Apple sets March 27 deadline for first iPad apps

Most iPad developers may not yet have touched the actual device, but that doesn't mean they haven't been busy working away on software for Apple's newest invention. But, according to an email obtained by Macworld, if you want your iPad application to have a chance of being in the App Store for the iPad's arrival, you'd better have it ready for Apple's review by March 27.

IBM adds DB2 to Lotus Foundations small business package

Just a few weeks after Microsoft pulled the plug on its Windows EBS (Essential Business Server), IBM has beefed up its own pre-integrated package for small and medium-sized businesses, called Lotus Foundations.

New versions of Lotus Foundations will now include a copy of DB2 Express-C database server, said Caleb Barlow, who is IBM's director for solutions development for small and medium-sized businesses. The addition will not raise the price of Lotus Foundations, he promised.

Malware infected memory cards of 3,000 Vodafone mobile phones

Malware-tainted memory cards may have ended up on as many as 3,000 HTC Magic phones, a greater number than first suspected, Vodafone said Friday.

The problem came to light earlier this month after an employee of Panda Security plugged a newly ordered phone into a Windows computer, where it triggered an alert from the antivirus software.
