Stephen Norrell has been a member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra since 1981 and has participated in 5 Grammy winning recordings with Maestro James Levine. Since joining the Met, Steve has almost 4000 Met performances and over 80 ?Live from Lincoln Center? telecast since that time. Steve has also performed with conductor's Leonard Bernstein, Herbert von Karajan, Erich Leinsdorf, Carlos Kleiber, Kurt Masur, Seiji Owaza, Sir Georg Solti, Klaus Tennstedt and Zubin Mehta. Stephen has also toured and performed with the New York Philharmonic along with performances with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Before joining the Met in 1981, Steve was a member of the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra from 1979-1981 and played the summer seasons with the Baltimore Symphony from 1977-1979.As a soloist, Steve has performed at the International Trombone Workshop, the Eastern Trombone Workshop and at the New York Brass Conference for Scholarships. He has been a member of the Manhattan School of Music since 1988 and has performed frequently at the school since that time. Steve is a current a member of the Grand Tetons Music Festival and a former member of the Colorado Music Festival.Stephen is a native of Decatur,Ga. and grew up in Athens attending Cedar Shoals High School before attending The Juilliard School where he graduated with both a BM and MM degrees.
