Japan's gross domestic product grew at nearly double the U.S. rate for the first quarter, an unexpectedly strong sign of recovery in the wake of last year's devastating earthquake and tsunami.Japanese GDP grew 4.1% annual rate in the first quarter, showing post-tsunami rebound. That's nearly doubled the U.S. annual rate of 2.2%.

	TV9 News : 6.8 Magnitude Quake Rocks Northeastern Japan, Tsunami Warned TV9 News : 6.8 Magnitude Quake Rocks Northeastern Japan, Tsunami Warned......, A 6.8-magnitude earthquake jolted the Pacific side of Hokkaido and north-east Japan regions on Wednesday, reports quoting the US Geological Survey and Japanese Meteorological agency said. While Japanese Meteorological agency said the quake occurred at 6:09 pm local time, USGS put the timing at 7:08 pm The quake registered 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in the Kushiro area of southern Hokkaido, and in parts of Aomori and Iwate prefectures, according to the Japanese agency. The quake, originating at a depth of 26.6 kilometer, was centered about 270 kilometers off the coast. There were no immediate reports of damage, Japanese media reported. The Japanese Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami advisory, warning of a half-meter wave, but canceled it shortly. However, it advised to "pay attention when fishing, swimming or engaging in other activities, as there may be still slight sea-level changes for the time being." On Sunday, Japan marked the first anniversary of an earthquake and tsunami that killed thousands in the country, and triggered the world's worst nuclear crisis in a quarter century.
